Historic Oakwood District & Oakwood Cemetery Tour

Just a few blocks northeast of downtown Raleigh the state capital; you will be transported back in time to the late 19th century. The crown jewel of the area is the Oakwood Cemetery first deeded in 1869 and now includes 102 acres. Today its winding paved roads present a tranquil picture fitting of the final resting place for many of North Carolina's finest citizens.
The natural topography, the oaks, the meandering stream and numerous types of monuments are all elements which make this a must see stop while in Raleigh. With 28,000 grave sites each with its own story, your guide will present a sampling of these stories.
